The latest critter capers...

First, we need to cover some old business. The chicks are innocent! The vet said the horses did NOT have salmonella, thus the chickens are safe! We've been eating the eggs all along because salmonella would be more on the outside of the egg than the inside. How bout the eggs that we didn't eat? Aren't they cute?!?!
That's Mean Momma with three of her chicks, well at least ones she hatched. She hatched 4 and then abandoned her nest. I moved two of the abandoned eggs to another hen's nest. One hatched so I moved it back with this momma, the red chick. A couple of days later the other hen got pushed off her nest by the other birds so I put her eggs under this momma and it looks like 2 or 3 of them are going to hatch tonight. Awesome!

Wanna see some more cute pics? How about Luke and, yes we finally named the foal! Ready, drum roll please - it's BREE! Amanda said that was the name of a really cool talking horse in The Chronicles of Narnia. Yup, Luke gave her a kiss.
Yes, she's VERY gentle! Amanda haltered her for the first time today. Didn't mind the halter, having the lead rope draped over her or waving around her. She'll be real gentle. The only thing we have to watch right now is making her respect your personal space. It's not a problem right now but, as she gets bigger it will be, right Garrett?
Garrett and Luke really like her. They told Amanda "Mommy, we have a horse just our size!"

Then we have the picture of Garrett, Luke and their buddy Titus all three riding a horse. Well, I think Luke started out on the horse but, just like his dad, soon ended up on the ground behind the horse. At least Luke doesn't have scars to prove it!
Oh, I almost forgot. We had a friend of ours come by and pick up some gourds. She's Native American and decorates them and sells them. Anyhow, she loved our chihuahua, Skittles. She was wanting an indoor lap dog and we just haven't been able to spend the time Skittles needed so Ms. Lightfoot took Skittles home. Skittles now sleeps in a recliner, and is getting spoiled bad. It worked out great for both of them. It was a good thing Skittles found a new home because the next weekend guess who showed up at our house with a present? My little brother, well make that my younger brother who's bigger than me brought his wife and all the kids and, Molly. Molly is stinkin' cool! She's about 14 weeks now. Ain't she cute?!?!?!
