Poppy & Nonni and The Maroon & White Game

What a day! Nonni and Poppy came down to bring Luke his birthday present. They can't come the weekend of his party so we got to see them early. Daddy is very glad that Luke got two massive super soakers. The boys might get to play with them if I get tired of playing with them.

Nonni and Poppy rode horses. Poppy was wearing his tennis shoes and they wouldn't fit in the stirrups so he had to ride with just his toes in the stirrups - he didn't ride for long. Nonni, on the other hand, was having a blast. She rode around with Poppy.
Then she led the wagon train.

Then Daddy and Luke rode Sam and Nonni and Garrett rode Scarlett.

Then Amanda and Luke rode Sam and Nonni and Garrett rode Scarlett some more.

Of course we had to play wit Bree. Everybody wants to see the baby! Look, 4 teeth!

Don't try this at home. You really shouldn't be under there Garrett. Good thing this is one sweet little girl!

Then we got to go to the Maroon and White Game. HEB had free hamburgers and hot dogs. Water was $4 a bottle at another booth. (No, we didn't get any H2O) The boys slid down the big super moonwalk slide mountain thing. Why can't adults play on it???

Garrett climbing up.

Luke sliding down. He started jumping at the top and almost came down on his head. You heard a gasp go through the crowd as he teetered on the edge and then finally sat down and slid on his rearend.

We sat right on the front row in the Zone when we got inside. The security guard working that end was real cool. Walked up and gave all the kids at the front a sucker. He made them get down off the wall, but not before I got a picture!

We were super close to watch the action.

Couldn't get any really good action shots. Took one of a guy diving in for the touchdown but I had the camera set wrong and just got a big blur. Stinks. Still we had a great time. Watch the plays up close, see what some prospects are. McGee looked great, Jerrod Johnson was rockin, Goodson was on, a freshman #28 (RB) was burning them up too. I can't wait to see what Sherman does with these guys next year! Then they had fireworks afterwards. Looked to be 1 1/2" mortars. Was different than the shows I do, I think this one was run off a computer to get the timing right with music and video on the Jumbotron. It was pretty cool. Overall, a really fun day!

The latest critter capers...

First, we need to cover some old business. The chicks are innocent! The vet said the horses did NOT have salmonella, thus the chickens are safe! We've been eating the eggs all along because salmonella would be more on the outside of the egg than the inside. How bout the eggs that we didn't eat? Aren't they cute?!?!
That's Mean Momma with three of her chicks, well at least ones she hatched. She hatched 4 and then abandoned her nest. I moved two of the abandoned eggs to another hen's nest. One hatched so I moved it back with this momma, the red chick. A couple of days later the other hen got pushed off her nest by the other birds so I put her eggs under this momma and it looks like 2 or 3 of them are going to hatch tonight. Awesome!

Wanna see some more cute pics? How about Luke and, yes we finally named the foal! Ready, drum roll please - it's BREE! Amanda said that was the name of a really cool talking horse in The Chronicles of Narnia. Yup, Luke gave her a kiss.
Yes, she's VERY gentle! Amanda haltered her for the first time today. Didn't mind the halter, having the lead rope draped over her or waving around her. She'll be real gentle. The only thing we have to watch right now is making her respect your personal space. It's not a problem right now but, as she gets bigger it will be, right Garrett?
Garrett and Luke really like her. They told Amanda "Mommy, we have a horse just our size!"

Then we have the picture of Garrett, Luke and their buddy Titus all three riding a horse. Well, I think Luke started out on the horse but, just like his dad, soon ended up on the ground behind the horse. At least Luke doesn't have scars to prove it!
Oh, I almost forgot. We had a friend of ours come by and pick up some gourds. She's Native American and decorates them and sells them. Anyhow, she loved our chihuahua, Skittles. She was wanting an indoor lap dog and we just haven't been able to spend the time Skittles needed so Ms. Lightfoot took Skittles home. Skittles now sleeps in a recliner, and is getting spoiled bad. It worked out great for both of them. It was a good thing Skittles found a new home because the next weekend guess who showed up at our house with a present? My little brother, well make that my younger brother who's bigger than me brought his wife and all the kids and, Molly. Molly is stinkin' cool! She's about 14 weeks now. Ain't she cute?!?!?!

Take me out to the ballgame!

Thursday afternoon a guy at work asked if I wanted tickets to a rangers game. I asked when, he said tomorrow night. I said, no can't go. Then I thought about it, called Amanda, and asked if I could take Garrett to a baseball game. She said sure, go. I took the tickets (Thanks David!!!). Then I decided to look online and see how much tickets cost. They were reasonable so when I got home I told Amanda we were all going. She was excited. I took them with me to deliver some parts to a customer Friday afternoon and we just kept on driving from there. Got there just in time. Seats were pretty good, right at third base, on the third deck. We sat down and Garrett said "the people look like ants!" O.K., they weren't primo seats but they weren't the really cheap seats. It was free hat night though. See our cool hats in the picture?!??!

We were really disappointed we didn't take the camera. Got some cotton candy and we all shared and, here's where the camera was needed, Luke was grabbing hunks as fast as he could and stuffing them in his mouth. Huge wads of cotton candy just as fast as he could grab them. You know how cotton candy solidifies into sugar chunks when it gets wet, Luke had this blue stain all over his hands and mouth and these blue hunks of sugar all over the place. Kodak moment, and no kodak! AAARRGGGHH!!!

Garrett had been getting restless so the two of us went exploring while Amanda and Luke camped out in our seats (too much walking for them). Garrett and I ran down the ramps from the third deck to the first. Ran right onto the field and decided to play ball a little. Garrett struck out but it was fun. Ok, there was a picture booth. Reliant was doing pictures that they would superimpose on ballpark backgrounds. We decided to get our picture taken. Still pretty fun! Luckily they were still taking pictures when we left so we were able to get the family shot at the top.

The rangers got beat. They hit two home runs. The second one was a shot!. Hit it into the second deck and it landed in the entrance ramp and bounced onto the walkway on the backside of the grandstands. They said it was about a 435' hit. Smoked it! Everyone got a certificate for a free taco at Taco Bueno because they hit the homerun. We left at the end of the 8th inning. It was 10pm and we had to drive back still. Looked for a Taco Bueno and finally found one. Pulled in and, they were closed! At 10:30pm! What fast food restaurant closes before 10:30???? We were starving and wanted tacos by then so we pulled into taco bell then raced home. Got home at 2:30 this morning. Fed the animals, got in bed at 3am. Slept till 9 this morning. For us, that is SUPER late! It's been years since all of us slept that late. Wears you out havin' fun!
